The project

ALG seeks a Data Collection and Stakeholder Engagement Expert  to participate in a study aimed at Enhancing rural logistics in the Sahel region. The position is conditional on obtaining the contract with the World Bank. The project 8 months targets the countries of the Sahel and will be carried out from the firm’s office in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso). The project period is from June 2023 to February 2024.

The assignment objective is to gain an understanding the governance, business, services, operational and financial basis of the rural logistics in the Sahel and identify actions to change the trajectory of rural logistics towards the decarbonization and resilience of the sector.

The role

The Data Collection and Stakeholder Engagement Expert will be responsible for leading the data collection and stakeholder consultation plans under components 1 through 3 in close coordination with the Team Leader and Deputy Team Leader and technical leads for all components. The Data Collection and Stakeholder Engagement Expert is also expected to serve as the technical lead for component 4 to ensure that workshop materials enable an efficient stakeholder engagement process. This expert shall have:

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree, equivalent or higher) in a relevant discipline or related field.
  • Recent experience in the preparation of engagement strategies and data collection plans related to climate and /or disaster risk, transportation infrastructure, planning and design of infrastructure, implementation of technical workshops and trainings, and/or design and implementation of public awareness-raising activities.
  • Ability to develop, analyze, and articulate project issues clearly, as well as diagnose problems and propose reliable solutions; and the ability to behave in a professional, client-focused, and service-oriented manner.
  • Recent and relevant work experience in developing capacity building activities and materials for a variety of stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills (in English and French), presentation skills, and an ability to prepare and manage the development of high-quality reports, project documentation, and communications materials.
  • Experience in WBG-assisted projects is an advantage. Network to reach out to a wide range of local and internal stakeholders in the Sahel region is preferred.
