The project

ALG seeks a Climate Expert to participate in a project aimed at Enhancing rural logistics in the Sahel region. The position is conditional on obtaining the contract with the World Bank. The project 8 months targets the countries of the Sahel and will be carried out from the firm’s office in Dakar (Senegal). The forecast period is from June 2023 to February 2024.

The assignment objective is to gain an understanding the governance, business, services, operational and financial basis of the rural logistics in the Sahel and identify actions to change the trajectory of rural logistics towards the decarbonization and resilience of the sector.

The role

The Climate Expert will provide technical inputs during all stages of the scope of services and shall have:

  • At least 10 years professional climate change experience (mitigation/decarbonization, adaptation and resilience) for transport infrastructure.
  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree, equivalent or higher) in a relevant discipline such as engineering, geology, climatology, meteorology, carbon accounting, disaster management, risk management, urban development, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in hazard, exposure, vulnerability, and risk assessments.
  • Specific experience in development of applied concepts to identify pathways for low-carbon, climate-resilient development.
  • Excellent communication skills (in English), presentation skills, and an ability to prepare and manage the development of high-quality reports, project documentation, and communications materials.
