The project

ALG seeks a Team Deputy Team leader to participate in a study aimed at Enhancing rural logistics in the Sahel region. The position is conditional on obtaining the contract with the World Bank. The project 8 months targets the countries of the Sahel and will be carried out from the firm’s office in Dakar (Senegal). The forecast period is from June 2023 to February 2024.

The assignment objective is to gain an understanding the governance, business, services, operational and financial basis of the rural logistics in the Sahel and identify actions to change the trajectory of rural logistics towards the decarbonization and resilience of the sector.

The role

Deputy Team Leader, maintaining close coordination with the government clients, partners, and the World Bank to ensure that the deliverables, as they develop, are in line with the expectations and needs of the engagement. The Deputy Team Leader is required to have the following qualifications :

  • At least 10 years of experience leading/co-leading similar projects.
  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree, equivalent or higher) in a relevant discipline such civil engineering, transportation, logistics, or a related field, with a focus on climate change and sustainability or disaster resilience.
  • Proven team leadership and project management skills, including ability to lead the team by coaching and mentoring team members to achieve individual inputs, and be responsible for the overall quality of deliverables
  • Excellent communication skills (in English), presentation skills, and an ability to prepare and manage the development of high-quality reports, project documentation, and communications materials.
  • Ability to develop, analyze and articulate project issues, diagnose problems, and propose reliable solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience working on relevant technical and analytical tools, and climate mitigation, adaptation, and resilience.
