The Regional Fund for Cooperation and Cultural Exchanges in West
Africa has mandated Africa Label Group to develop a Directory of Cultural
Organizations in the West Africa sub-region. It is a common initiative of
ECOWAS and WAEMU with the support of the European Union.

Countires involved in the  project are:  Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde,
Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea Bissau, Guinea Conakry, Liberia,
Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Sénégal, Sierra Leone and Togo.

To be registered in the directory, every organization must meet the
following criteria:
  • to have all or most of their activities related to arts and culture in
    West Africa;
  • to contribute (with a proportion of their activities at least) to the
    integration process and the strengthening of exchanges and
    networks on the regional level;
  • to have some experience (minimum 3 years for the organization or
    one of its managers).

After several months conducting survey to collect data in the 16 countries,
we are pleased to publish online  the draft of the directory. Our aim is to
allow listed organizations to eventually edit information relating to them
and to give the opportunity to those qualified but not identified during the
survey to get registered.

Le Fonds Régional pour la Coopération et les Echanges Culturels en
Afrique de l'Ouest a mandaté Africa Label Group pour réaliser un
Répertoire des organismes culturels en Afrique de l'Ouest. Il s'agit
d'une initiative conjointe de la CEDEAO et l'UEMOA, avec l'appui de
l'Union Européenne.

Les pays concernés sont:  Bénin, Burkina Faso, Cap Vert, Côte d’
Ivoire, Gambie, Ghana, Guinée Bissau, Guinée Conakry, Liberia, Mali,
Mauritanie, Niger, Nigeria, Sénégal, Sierra Leone et Togo.

Le répertoire cible les organisations répondant à trois critères:
  • avoir l’essentiel de leurs activités dans le secteur des arts et de
    la culture en Afrique de l’Ouest ;
  • contribuer (par une partie de leurs activités au moins) au
    processus d’intégration et de renforcement des échanges et
    des réseaux au niveau régional ;
  • avoir une certaine expérience (3 ans au moins pour l’
    organisation ou un des responsables).

Après quelques mois d'enquête dans les 16 pays pour collecter des
informations, nous avons le plaisir de publier en ligne le draft du
répertoire.  Notre souhait est de permettre aux organisations inscrites
de vérifier l’exactitude des informations qui les concernent et de
donner à d’autres organisations qui n’ont pas répondu à l’enquête une
dernière opportunité de le faire.
